ABOUT GICLÉE PRINT EDITIONS

Giclée

The term “giclée print” denotes an elevation in printing technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed onto various substrates’ including canvas and fine art paper. The giclée printing process provides better colour accuracy than other means of production and is commonly found in museums, art galleries and photographic galleries.

Paper

The paper used is Breathing Colour Elegance Velvet Platinum This 310g, Bright White, water-resistant velvet fine art paper is made from 100% cotton fibre and is acid and lignin free. Elegance Velvet is a patented mould made fine art paper that is strong and dimensionally stable with remarkable ink load capacity and far exceeds the limitations of virtually every paper of its kind. It is designed and suited for luxurious fine art reproductions, maximises the perceived value of your fine art print and is archival certified for 100+ years.

Printer

The printer used for this process is the high performance Roland FJ 540 ink-jet printer, which is unsurpassed in the industry for the quality of print produced. Among other professional uses, these printers were developed specifically to produce fine art prints. The Roland FJ 540 ink-jet printer produces incredibly detailed prints which capture the subtleties and nuances of the original artwork along with the depth of the colour range.

Inks

Roland Pigment inks were used to produce your fine art print, which are especially formulated for fine art printing offering a wide gamut and high UV-resistance. Independent third-part tests have provided life time estimates of 250 years for these pigment-based inks.

Conservation of Fine Art Prints

Fine art prints will maintain their value and in many cases increase in value. In order to conserve your print and preserve its value certain conditions and actions must be avoided.
